With his 50 life lessons of wisdom by Time Magazine’s America’s best preacher, you can develop your spiritual direction just by reading the pages. The book is like having a spiritual adviser by your side. Through practical application of the concepts you can become more inspired to face life’s biggest challenges. I strongly recommend this book.

Needs better editing

This is an EXCELLENT book on leadership and is deeply steeped in faith. It does not however directly reference is the Bible as is sometimes the case with TD Jakes. Its worth, however, is boundless. The only reason I dropped one star is that it is poorly edited. There were misspelled and misplaced words on every third page which is too bad because it became a distraction from the content of the book.

Members of the “animal welfare science community”, which includes both scientists and philosophers, have illegitimately appropriated the concept of animal welfare by claiming to have given a scientific account of it that is more objectively valid than the more “sentimental” account given by animal liberationists. This strategy has been used to argue for merely limited reform in the use of animals. This strategy was initially employed as a way of “sympathetically” responding to the abolitionist claims of anti-vivisectionists, who objected to the use of animals in research. It was subsequently used by farm animal scientists.

The primarily reformist (as opposed to abolitionist) goals of this community make the false assumption that there are conditions under which animals may be raised and slaughtered for food or used as models in scientific research that are ethically acceptable. The tendency of the animal welfare science community is to accept this assumption as their framework of inquiry, and thus to discount certain practices as harmful to the interests of the animals that they affect. For example, animal welfare is conceptualized is such a way that death does not count as harmful to the interests of animal, nor prolonged life a benefit.

Great book to read if you are trying to learn another language, or English. Provides a great base for beginning to read in another language, while it includes images that explain the text. The book is engaging and comical, and while not intended for adults it provides a challenge in German. Enjoy!

Greg's parents said we are going to a camp.
Greg herd that and said I don't want to.
It took them a long time to get there.
Greg said yeah it's going to us a long time to get there.
Yeah finally we made it.
Uh isn't that Rodrick.
Greg said yes he's the one who told us to do his rules.
Rodrick said make your self compfy.
Greg said yes I will.
They went to sleep.
Greg left the camp.
He made it back at midnight.
He went to bed for the rest of the night.

Wieder viel Geschwister-Zoff und viele (lustige) Schulstreiche. - Genau das richtige f�r (eher lesefaule) Jungs & M�dels.

Greg schreibt zum Gl�ck weiter an einem zweiten Tagebuch, obwohl sein (bl�der) Bruder Roderick leider sein 1. Tagebuch gefunden hat.
Es gibt also jede Menge Probleme aus dem Umfeld seiner Familie und der Schule. Probleme �ber Probleme! Das f�ngt damit an, dass sein Vater ihn zu einem Olympiaschwimmer machen m�chte, dass er zum Schulbeginn noch immer den "K�sefinger" hatte, dass er nicht mehr bei seinem Freund Rupert �bernachten darf und dann nat�rlich der Stress mit dem kleinen Bruder Manni. Immer mal wieder tauchen die "lieben" Verwandten auf und Manni, der kleine Windelpupser, kann mittlerweile sogar reden.

Es geht also munter weiter und Greg schildert alles M�gliche und vor allem viel Peinliches �ber das Zusammenleben der Eltern oder �ber seinen gro�en Bruder.

Das Verh�ltnis von Text zu kleinen Comic-Strips ist ausgewogen, es ist trotz vielen kleinen Zeichnungen sehr viel zu lesen. Vor allem tragen die komischen Gestalten, die der Autor da so zeichnet, sehr viel zur Unterhaltung bei.

Das Buch ist wieder zum Verschenken an einen kleinen Jungen (11 Jahre) gedacht, der schon vom 1. Teil begeistert war. Wie so �blich habe ich (als Erwachsener) mich beim Lesen der Lekt�re auch total gut am�siert. Alleine diese Kritik an der Erwachsenen-Welt, die Greg mit seinen Eintr�gen so herrlich naiv schildert ist ganz sch�n spa�ig zu lesen und macht hie und da ein bisschen nachdenklich. - Sozusagen ein All-Age-Buch. ;-)

About the Author

Albert Einstein (1879–1955), one of the greatest thinkers of the twentieth century, was born in Ulm, Germany, to German-Jewish parents. He published his first great theories in Switzerland in the early 1900s while working as a patent clerk.

Perfect for Travel, Quick Reads

Out of my Later Years is a collection of Einstein's speeches and articles covering not just physics but his thoughts on the social condition of man, of Jews, and of war as well as several speeches about the likes of Max Planck, Mahatma Gandhi, and Marie Curie.
As letters and speeches, these are written as the ordinary man that Einstein once was - very easy to read and understand. Even some of the physics lectures are understandable. Each is relatively short making this perfect for when you want to read something of substance but don't have much time.
The sections on Public Affairs are especially haunting as Einstein presents his arguments for the "global village" and advocated someting akin to the current U.N. - things that began to come into their own after his passing. In particular, there is an interchange between him and a group of Communist scientists that underlines the Cold War tension in its height and is a chilling read now in the Post Soviet Union age.

Interesting articles, awkward editing

It is a nice collection of sixty, mostly short, articles and other texts by Einstein, mainly from the 'thirties and 'forties. They are ordered by main subject matter, not chronologically. Quite enjoyable reading. What I didn't like in the Kindle edition is that each article is presented under its title only, without a date or source reference. The date of publication does appear after the titles in the table of contents, and a list of sources are presented in the last section called "Acknowledgements". Looking at this list one discovers that the dates of publication stated there apparently correspond to the antologies the editors used as sources for the articles, which is not necessarily the original publication date of each article. Nothing is said about the context of the articles, except for a few cases. This arrangement is annoying, because knowing the original publication date is crucial for the understanding of the context in which Einstein wrote, particularly in political matters. And having to hop back and forth from the articles to the Acknowledgements list in Kindle in order to find the date and context is a nuisance.

A good look at his own introspection

The book was well written and we get a good insight on the tremendous impact his theories have had on our old understanding of such principles as gravity while at the same time he sees limitations because of the inadequate "tools" available to scientists in his time period. I feel he would have been please with the progress and success we have had (the Hubble space telescope, for example) since 1955.
